This page explains what kind of personal information the Royal Automobile Club holds about you, how it’s protected and how you can find out about it.

What personal information the Club holds about you

The Club collects and processes a range of information about you:

  • Your personal details: your name, address and contact details, including email address and telephone number.
  • Your career details; qualifications, skills, experience and employment history, including start and end dates, with previous employers and with the Club;

Why does the Club process personal data:

To operate the internal recruitment process which may require contacting you to discuss your c.v. or availability to work and on occasion, to invite you to interview.

To maintain accurate and up-to-date contact and career details;

How the Club protects your personal information

The Club will:

  • only ask for what’s needed
  • make sure nobody has access to it who shouldn’t
  • only keep the information for as long as it’s needed
  • not make it available for commercial use

Sharing your information

Your information will be shared with our managers where this is needed to process your application and potentially invite you to interview.

There are some cases when your information can be shared for other reasons, e.g. to prevent crime.

How long the Club keeps your information

Your application and interview information including, C.V, application form and covering letter, will be kept for six months after the date of your initial application.

If you have attended an interview but were unsuccessful we will keep your data for six months from the date of application.  This would allow us to contact you again should another job opportunity come up in the meantime.

Asking to see your information

You can ask to see the personal information the Club holds about you. You should address your request to recruitment@royalautomobileclub.co.uk. There is no charge.

How to make a complaint

If you’re unhappy with the way the Club handled your personal information, you can write to dataprotection@royalautomobileclub.co.uk.

The ‘Data Lead for Job Applicants ‘ at the Club is Ian Shaw, Head of IT.

If you are unhappy with the answer or need any advice, contact the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). The ICO can investigate your complaint and take action against anyone who has misused personal data.
